Brands Hatch | Didn’t go as planned!

Team Rutpen attended Brands Hatch circuit this sunny bank holiday weekend.

After the great racing start this season Dave Roberts in the Datsun didn’t have the day we had all expected, with his first DNF (did not finish).

Both car and driver are in tacked and escaped with no injuries; albeit with the drivers pride bashed up a little!

On the positive Dave was able to get his licence signed off to step up to the global stage! Well done Dave!

Aside from this the MG continued as normal punching above its weight in class but expectations we’re not high given the sunny weather and a lot faster cars on the track.

Another great race weekend at Anglesey

With both the MG and Datsun in action at Anglesey, Rutpen enjoyed a very good show again!

Dave Roberts walked away with 2 trophies finishing 2nd (in class) Race 1 & 1st (in class) in Race 2 of the Adams & Page Swinging Sixties.

While Stuart Emmett and the MG is continuing to punch well above his weight in a tough Co-ordSport Tin Tops and Cartek Motorsport Puma Cup!

You can see the action though Marc Peters video highlights, here:

Full results are here:

John Aston interviewed many of the drivers and he gives his personal views on his first visit to Anglesey:

Beth also shoots Olympic trap and will be competing in the Olympic trap later on this year which again her goal is to get in the north of England selection team and in turn make the English open…

Then on to shoot in the Olympics for Team GB with a bit of luck!

Rutpen’s Oulton Park Race Weekend Update

Very good weekend for team Rutpen at Aulton Park!

Both Stuart & Dave finished 3rd in their respective races.

Dave was on Friday in the Datsun while Stuart had to wait until the Monday for his race in the MG!

With it only being Dave’s second competitive race the pressure was on after his impressive debut race at Silverstone.  Dave did however rise to the challenge even with a few hiccups along the way due to the rain and also some gearbox issues.  None the less with the team in the pit and some great driving got back into the race to finish 3rd!

Special thanks to the pit team and team recruit Karen supporting at Dave’s side!

Another day another Trophy!

Sue Chandler Retirement

After nearly 14 years in the business Sue Chandler today retires here at Rutpen!

Thankfully she has not just rushed into the sunset, she spent quality time putting the team together to drive Rutpen into the future.

She has now handed the torch (should I say bunsen burner) down to Christian Baylies and Raluca Cristea.

We wish Sue all the best in her retirement; you will be missed within the team!

Sue’s send off ended with the rutpen team out at Silks on the Downs in Marlborough.

Rutpen’s MD’s First Race

Last weekend Rutpens Managing Director Dave Roberts entered the Datsun 240Z into the CSCC Silverstone Spectacular; this was his first ever race! It’s a popular race with over 60 entrants so is split into two “grids” by engine size.

Dave was in group 2 for the larger engine cars, qualifying was first thing and starting at 18th on a grid of 30; pretty much mid field in the class!

When speaking to Dave he expressed how incredibly nervous it was being a standing start, the advise he was given was to hit first gear, 5000 revs and dump the clutch!

“I’d never done it before so just did what I was told said and managed to avoid a stranded TVR ahead on the grid & the field all made it through the first corner safely”.

“I pretty much worked & drove as hard as I could for 40 minutes and arrived exhausted and relieved to see the chequered flag. I didn’t really care where I had come, I was just elated to finish, but arrived back to the pits to discover I was third in class! Dazed and amazed I was presented with a trophy”.

Thanks to Stuart & Dan for coming out to Silverstone & to Dean Halsey & his team for their support and advice over the weekend, he runs another Datsun 240Z and came first in class!

A very well done from the team at Rutpen and we look forward to more trophies throughout the season from all the rutpen team!

Rutpen sponsored MG enjoys a successful season opener at Snetterton!

Rutpen sponsored MG enjoys a successful weekend at Snetterton for the opening round of the CSCC Tintops Race Saloons.

Qualifying 5th in class on a dry circuit was satisfactory, but a wet race and tyre strategy worked incredibly well with Stuart Emmett and the team finishing 3rd in class and 14th overall from a very mixed grid that saw almost 40 cars start the race!

A good weekend, no damage and a great result… Well done team!

Next race is the Dave Allen 40 minute endurance race at Castle Combe on MON 06.05.19.

A stand alone race at our local circuit – watch this space…..
