Orange is the new green!

Rutpen takes first delivery of it’s new electric forklift fleet.

Yesterday we took delivery of the first 3 brand new electric Doosan 20 forklifts which will now join our MHE fleet replacing our existing diesel models. Not only will this increase our productivity and reduce downtime but we’ll also be reducing our carbon footprint. These trucks include a range of ATEX rated equipment enabling us to safely operate in any atmosphere across our departments. On top of being ATEX rated the trucks also include full windscreen, weatherproofing, 3 point adjustable suspended seats for driver comfort and even front and back HD wide angle cameras that record continuously for the drivers safety and for those around them. We would like to thank Nick from Budget Forklifts for his excellent service in getting these trucks ready for us.

Snetterton Race Report

An Early departure on Saturday from Wiltshire towing the Datsun for qualifying at Snetterton in the CSCC Swinging Sixties combined grid race a total of 45 cars to start.

We encountered a few delays on the way and arrived to find the timetable had been advance half an hour. After about 15 minutes frantic unloading, tightening wheel nuts final checks and changing, we were out 8 minutes late for qualifying on a circuit never driven before.

Dave mentioned “I found my way around the busy track and managed to put in a reasonable time just before the rain came, came into the pits to find we were a surprising sixth on the grid”.

We watched some great classic car racing in the afternoon then formed in the collection area & out for a rolling start. The Datsun got away well and managed to get inside the 5th place car into the harpin, then passed the 4th place car on the back straight. So running 4th after the first lap was a great start, but the three lead cars were already showing their form and leaving the Datsun behind. Then about 5 laps in the lead car broke a half shaft and was stranded in a dangerous position, safety car out for 4 laps, after some terrible pit stop strategy the Datsun was now in 8th position with many lapped slower cars also in front. Racing again the Datsun really switched on, lap times falling and starting to move up the field, final lap was a frantic scrap with a V8 Sunbeam Tiger, the Datsun took the place with the bigger Tiger faster on the straights it was a chase to the line with the Datsun crossing the line 2nd just 0.1S in front of the Tiger.

So overall a great result, but very short lived, following a stewards inquiry Dave was found to have a yellow flag infringement whilst the safety car coming out on circuit, so found to be disqualified.

A great race and lessons learnt… get up earlier & follow the rules!

CSCC Race Weekend 25th & 26th July

Team Rutpen are really happy to be back on the race track again, albeit with all the Covid-19 restrictions!

The weekend started with a very wet Saturday for the Civic working hard to acheive 2nd in class in the Tin Tops.

Sunday the weather looked better with Dave taking the Datsun out for the Swinging Sixties.  We qualified 5th in a grid of 43 which was a great start.

The Datsun got away well into a short lived third place, the huge 5.7L V8 Camero soon filled the mirrors and romped past. Leaving the Datsun to fight it out for the rest of the race between 4 and 5th with a beautiful red Marcos.

Rain came after about 30 minutes and a collision with a stationary Lotus Elan was very narrowly avoided on the start finish straight.

The Datsun and Dave had fought off the challenge from the Marcos and consolidated 4th , but the lead car spun whilst passing back markers gifting 3rd overall and a 1st in class.

Another great weekend but much more to come throughout the season.

Back on Track!

After a long busy time at Rutpen during the Covid-19 madness its great to see the new look Civic and Datsun back on the track for a well-deserved spin!

The 2020 CSCC Season to finally to start at Thruxton in late July and we cannot wait!

After a good end to last year for both drivers the new Civic had a busy winter giving us the opportunity for interior modifications and improvements … oh and the new livery.

Stuart will be hoping for more success in the Honda Civic, if driver ability is not enough perhaps the blinding new graphics will be!

Dave is hoping to push forward on his top debut season and bring home even more trophies this season.

Alcohol Hand Sanitiser Support Update

Rutpen are keen to provide a quick update Alcohol Hand Sanitiser and what we have been doing over the last 6 weeks.

In response to the current Covid-19 crisis, we were asked by the Cabinet Office to prioritise the production of alcohol hand sanitisers and where possible support the NHS and other Essential Workers.  We are keen to work with anyone with direct links to support the NHS, care and key workers and have made key partnerships to achieve this goal.

We have a full TSDA1 (ethanol) licence and we have secured supply of this ongoing as well as the required packaging from a UK producer in order to fill to our capacity throughout April, May & June.
We are also working on long term supplies of UK produced packaging to allow us to continue production on an ongoing basis.

We are producing a 1,000cps 80% Alcohol gel packed into 500ml clear containers with flip caps with the view to progressing to pumps and adding a 250ml offering which is scheduled to launch in the coming months.

As an example of our long-term commitment to this project we are currently having the sanitiser tested for EN1276, EN14476 and EN1500 by a reputable UK company.

We are expecting the results for the EN1276 Bacterial & EN14476 Viricidal in the next 2-3 weeks but the EN1500 is currently on track for the end of May as things stand.

We will be producing around 16,000 bottles per day and are keen to give first offerings to supply chains that support the front line workers, NHS and care sectors.

We will continue to allocate orders weekly to prioritise in line with the above core value.

We have just launched the Alcohol Hand Sanitiser on our web shop with the view to control the distribution at a fair price in the market for small volumes even with the highly inflated Ethanol pricing we are getting currently.

This will be monitored as Ethanol pricing moves in the market keeping a transparent fair price to the market for the long term!

A donation from every sale of our Alcohol Hand Sanitiser pack; this being a single box (12x500ml) or 4 box (4 x 12x500ml) will go to Brighter Futures Charity, donations are £100 per 4 box sale and £20 per 1 Box sale!

Please keep supporting our NHS and front-line workers who are getting us through this hard time!
