Client: Automotive Sector

ISSUE

Solvent is used in automotive factories to clean the robot paint machines between different coloured paint sprays, which can be as frequently as every few minutes. This means that there is a huge volume of solvent that needs to be recovered regularly.

SOLUTION

Rutpen works with a number of automotive companies to recycle the solvent washings. It collects solvent several times a week and recycles the product. The distillate can then be analysed and, if necessary, additions made to bring it to a specification which is suitable for the material to be used again through the primary generating process. Clean solvent is then returned to the client.

OUTCOME

Not only are there significant cost savings for clients, but it has become more attractive as solvent prices rise. The latest investment at Rutpen to further develop the solvent recycling plant has improved the speed of handling and increased capacity through the plant.
